The Reading Shed

I've been an avid reader from the age of 3. Starting with the Janet & John books! Nowadays I like to sink my old teeth into a British Murder Thriller. I also love Contemporary Romantic Fiction too. Comedy, Biography, a bit of Romance ( nothing Mills & Boon though) I love reading in the early hours, when it's all quiet. I hate noise when I'm reading. I have a Romanian Rescue Dog who I adopted this year, she is an old lady and has always lived on the streets before coming to live with me. I adore all animals. I giggle a lot, and silly things leave my mouth before I've had time to think

The Doorstep Girls

The Doorstep Girls - Val Wood This was my first ever step into historical fiction And I really enjoyed it. But only because it was set in places I could associate with. I was fascinated in how the people lived back in the 1800s and how they were treated too. This really was an enjoyable book which I shall always remember reading.

Isolation Junction: Breaking free from the isolation of emotional abuse

Isolation Junction: Breaking free from the isolation of emotional abuse - Jennifer Gilmour I knew I had to read "Isolation Junction" as soon as I heard about it as it is a subject so close to my heart, yet something only those very close to me know exactly the true impact it has had on me.
This truly had me in tears. It is a well written account and I really do applaud Jennifer for writing about such a "behind closed doors" subject. People do not realise that Domestic Abuse is not just Physical abuse but Mental Abuse too. Even typing out this review, I am crying.
People need to read this book so they know the kind of torment that others are going through, yet are either too scared or just "can't get out" of the relationship. And to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that help is out there.

The Fifth Letter

The Fifth Letter - Nicola Moriarty This is the first of Nicola’s work I have read and I can honestly say how much I thoroughly enjoyed every single page. The story had it all, Friendship, Secrets & Lies, and a not too heavy mystery. I loved getting to know each character in this well written book. It certainly had me hooked

Welcome to Lagos

Welcome to Lagos - Chibundu Onuzo What a wonderful writer Chibundu is, who certainly seems to have researched before putting pen to paper. This book is so powerful and heart wrenching, I cried. Each of the seven main characters who are thrown together have a story to tell and boy they certainly are descriptive. I cried and felt I was so lucky to live in the country I live in.

This was one truly powerful and thought provoking novel which I know will be remembered for a very long time.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the arc xxx

The Two O'Clock Boy

The Two O'Clock Boy - Mark Hill yet another great book to get my mind blowing! This certainly did that from the very beginning. I had no idea who I should trust, I like books like that, books that keep me guessing right until the very end. This did just that with all its twists and turns and cold and calculating characters. Boy it was a good one
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the arc xx

My Sweet Revenge

My Sweet Revenge - Jane Fallon What a great book to start my new year reading on its way. It was funny, lighthearted and had likeable characters too. Paula, the main character, is a strong willed lady, I liked her a lot. I never put this book down, I read it in one sitting as I needed to make sure everything went to plan.

My Sweet Revenge is one of those books which makes you sit up and take note. It makes you smile. It comforts you. Basically it has it all and I personally see it as a number one best seller.

Exposure: The Most Provocative Thriller You’ll Read All Year

Exposure: The Most Provocative Thriller You’ll Read All Year - Ava Marsh I’ve not read any of Ava’s work before so had no idea what to expect but I can tell you, that her writing style is like no other author I’ve ever read and I LOVE IT!!!

I was so intrigued by the story that I read the book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. The characters are fantastic and as a fan of prison dramas this book really hit the spot for me.

It was gritty, sexy, edgy, eye opening easy to read thriller but if you are easily offended by lots of sex you had best stay away

Ragdoll

Ragdoll - Daniel Cole This is going to be the most wanted crime thriller of 2017. It has it all. It is amusing in parts,in a dark kind of way. It has great characters, there is blood and guts, a fabulous storyline which had me on the edge of my seat and boy oh boy there are more twists and turns than a fairground waltzer.

If you love a good crime thriller then 2017 is the year for #Ragdoll
Thank you so much to the publisher and netgalley for the arc of this brilliant book xx

Dark Fragments

Dark Fragments - Rob Sinclair This is a fast paced Thriller by Rob Sinclair which had me gripped from the very start. Dark Fragments is one of those books that you want to put down because you don’t like what you are reading yet you need to pick it up to know what is happening next. The characters arnt the type one would like to bump into whilst on your own, that’s for sure.

It really had me gasping at times. There are certainly plenty of twists in this book and a “I never saw that coming” kind of feel

The Secret

The Secret - Kathryn Hughes Thank You to Headline and Netgalley for allowing me to review this wonderful book xx

This book is a wonderful read which I thoroughly enjoyed. It is set in the 1970s and the present day.It is a very moving story which is beautifully written with passion. There are plenty of twists on each page to keep the reader guessing too. I loved this book and read it in one sitting.

The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul

The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul - Deborah Rodriguez This really didn't float my boat. It was a bit too "Slushy" in the romantic side for my tastes, you knew what was coming next.

My Husband the Stranger: An emotional page-turner with a shocking twist you'll never see coming

My Husband the Stranger: An emotional page-turner with a shocking twist you'll never see coming - Rebecca Done This certainly was an emotional rollercoaster of a love story. The story had me gripped throughout. I have not read Rebecca’s previous work so had no idea what her writing was like but feel that this lady will go far as she really seems to have researched this touching subject a great deal before putting pen to paper.
Thank You so much to the publisher and Netgalley for sending over the arc xxx

The Charming Predator

The Charming Predator - Lee MacKenzie This is a truly powerful story. How the author fell in love, was betrayed and lied to.

I kind of got rather bored half way through but carried on regardless. This story came over as if the writer didn’t really care but that could just have been how I was reading it.
Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for allowing me the arc of this book to review

Christmas Under a Starlit Sky

Christmas Under a Starlit Sky - Holly Martin Once again I must thank bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review holly martins 2nd book in the series “A Town Called Christmas”

I adored my first visit to Juniper Island ( here is my review of book one http://wp.me/p7gcnx-7f ) and hoped I would get a chance to visit again and here we are again with lots of love, laughter, drama and Christmas spirit.

This book has the feel good family Christmas I have craved since losing my parents 20 years alist
Its great catching up with characters from the first book, and seeing what they’ve been getting up to.

This really is a funfilled enjoyable Christmas Baubleicious read which should be on everyone’s #Christmas #Bookmas list

Brake Failure

Brake Failure - Alison Brodie The cover of this book made me feel happy inside, as if the driver doesn't have a care in the world and is fun loving. On reading the book it turns out that one indeed can judge a book by its cover.
This book was such a funny enjoyable read which had me giggling a lot.
There is romance and suspense with a very brave lady in the mix too. Its all happening in this quick whittled, dramatic and very entertaining book.
Everyone needs to read this book once it is published, its blooming brilliant xx

Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky

Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky - Holly Martin Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book xx
What a lovely cover this book has it made me feel like throwing off my slippers and trudging through the snow. As for the story, what can I say except that once again Holly has brought us Christmas like no other. This is such a heartwarming festive read with wonderful characters and wildlife. I love the way the story unfolds. This really is a Cracker of a tale.
