The Reading Shed

I've been an avid reader from the age of 3. Starting with the Janet & John books! Nowadays I like to sink my old teeth into a British Murder Thriller. I also love Contemporary Romantic Fiction too. Comedy, Biography, a bit of Romance ( nothing Mills & Boon though) I love reading in the early hours, when it's all quiet. I hate noise when I'm reading. I have a Romanian Rescue Dog who I adopted this year, she is an old lady and has always lived on the streets before coming to live with me. I adore all animals. I giggle a lot, and silly things leave my mouth before I've had time to think

Mistletoe on 34th Street

Mistletoe on 34th Street - Lisa Dickenson Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for giving me the chance to review this book xx
I adored the cover, it gave me a fuzzy feeling, a feeling of romance and a blooming good read. As usual with Lisa’s work, I wasn’t disappointed.

This was an absolute joy of a book from beginning to end. We had New York ( Romance Capital in my eyes), Snow, Christmas, Fun and a great set of characters and Lisa’s great way of writing makes us feel we are actually part of the story.

This is a feel good book to curl up on the sofa with.

Christmas at the Cornish Café: The only Christmas romance to fall in love with this year!

Christmas at the Cornish Café: The only Christmas romance to fall in love with this year! - Phillipa Ashley This was an absolute joy of a book to read, although I fear my waistline may well suffer. I felt my visit to this gorgeous café in my favourite part of the world, meeting these lovely characters just made me want to jump into the pages and join in the festivities and chomp on mince pies and clotted cream for ever more.

Phillipa’s writing really gets you in the Christmas spirit.
Thank You so much to the publishers and netgalley for sending me over a early copy to review xx

Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery

Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery - Jenny Colgan Thank you so much to the publishers and netgalley xx
I’ve always loved Jenny’s work and this is another belted. I adore the cover, and having read the other Little Beach Street Bakery titles, it was wonderful catching up with what seemed like old friends too in the well written characters.

Its another great, heartwarming read with the added bonus of some wonderful mouthwatering recipes at the back of the book.

Jenny never fails to put a glow in my heart

Nujeen: One Girl's Incredible Journey from War-torn Syria in a Wheelchair

Nujeen: One Girl's Incredible Journey from War-torn Syria in a Wheelchair - Nujeen Mustafa, Christina Lamb Firstly thank you to goodreads for posting me this book and also the publishers for the arc via netgalley which both arrived together.

What a brave yet funny and very intelligent young lady Nujeen is. She has seen and been through so much in her young life, things we take for granted, things we see on the TV. This poor girl has lived through it all.

Everyone needs to go out and buy this book, you think you have it bad. Just read about Nujeen and her life and you will see what a hard life really is.

The Futures

The Futures - Anna Pitoniak This is a debut novel by @annapitoniak. I love the cover, the characters are likeable too. Anna writes really well, I especially enjoyed the “flashbacks” which were cleverly done. It was a quick read for me but I certainly wasn’t disappointed.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley

Christmas Cheer

Christmas Cheer - Bella Osborne Those lovely people over at AvonBooksUK and the great NetGalley gave me a preview copy of Bella Osbourne's Willow Cottage part 2 (Christmas Cheer) and it certainly has just that. It is a lovely heartwarming book which was a pleasure to read. You can easily curl up by the fire with this book and get lost in Willow Cottage and all of the characters in the book.

Calling Major Tom

Calling Major Tom - David M. Barnett Thank you so much to the publishers and netgalley for this wonderful book xx

I cannot get the late great David Bowie song out of my head, but that’s not a bad thing at all. This was a beautifully written and a little bit on the quirky side kind of book with lovely characters. The story was heartwarming with some sadness too but all in all I finished the book feeling that kind of fuzziness I like in a book.

I rate this book 5/5

The One That Got Away

The One That Got Away - Melissa Pimentel Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this fabulous book to review xx
I never start a review quite like this, infact i never swear in my reviews but i am going to. I BLOODY LOVED THIS BOOK!! There, I've said it and I apologise for swearing but this book really is so good. The characters are lovely. Melissa's writing is amazing and the one liners had me in hysterics. This is a story I could imagine been made into a TV film. This is a wonderful romance which everyone should have in their life.

Miracle on 5th Avenue

Miracle on 5th Avenue - Sarah Morgan Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to review this book.
This book has it all. It has great characters, humour and sadness too, along with a gripping storyline. It'll have you reaching for the tissues in parts, so make sure they are handy. We don't get snow in England at Christmas so reading this book made me quite jealous that the romance is over in Manhattan at Christmastime

All I Ever Wanted

All I Ever Wanted - Lucy Dillon Thanks so much to the publisher and netgalley for sending me this book to review xx

this wasn’t my usual type of book but I was pleasantly surprised at the content of this story of a marriage breakdown and the effect it has on the children.

It is a well written story of love, loss, misunderstandings and so much more

The Smoke Hunter

The Smoke Hunter - Jacquelyn Benson This book was rather like Lara Croft meets Indiana Jones. We have adventure, mystery, humour, strong characters and even a bit of romance.

Cathy has tackled some difficult issues really well in this book and I love the Irish charm, drama, romance and very thought provoking.

Kids of Appetite

Kids of Appetite - David Arnold This is a book for 14 to 18 year olds and pure fiction. Its a murder mystery, who dunnit kind of book which I am sure teenager’s will absolutely love.

This book is harrowing at times but has you smiling in other parts. The characters are great and a real mismatched group of kids. I liked how we get to know a little about each of these children and what they have been through.
Thank you to the publishers and bookbridgr for this book xx

Slow Cooking Curry and Spice Dishes

Slow Cooking Curry and Spice Dishes - Carolyn Humphries I use my slow cooker a lot so thought i'd treat myself to this book.. Had a flick through and the recipes look gorgeous.. looking forward to trying some.

I made the Chicken Tikka Masala yesterday and it was gorgeous, if i say so myself.. all made with Indian spices and not a jar or bought paste in sight.. i added a wee bit more chilli as it seemed too bland for my taste and it turned out gorgeous.
I'm planning on making a new dish from this book each week.

The Little Shop of Happy Ever After

The Little Shop of Happy Ever After - Jenny Colgan A bookshop on a bus!!! Let me at it... This book was an absolute dream, set in Scotland it had me hooked from the front cover. A fabulous read that makes you feel warm and fuzzy
